Earth Day Part 2!
Did you know Earth Day was founded by United States Senator Gaylord Nelson as an environmental teach-in first held on April 22, 1970? Last week we shared tips on how to be sustainable on Earth Day, and today we are going to show you tips on how to be eco-friendly with your canine companion!
- Sustainable Dog Food
-Consider looking into the type of food you are purchasing for your pooch. There are some dog food companies that feature organic ingredients, that are locally sourced and from small family owned operations. This cuts down on chemicals (which can harm the environment) and the amount of gas to transport ingredients for your dog’s meal.
- Compostable Waste Bags
-Consider investing in some compostable waste bags for when you next take your canine companion on a walk! A much better alternative to the traditional plastic, which will end up in a landfill and never go away.
- Get an Eco-Friendly Dog Bed
- Try and find a dog bed that is made with eco-friendly materials, and made in the USA. We happen to sell such a product (https://www.bedtime4dogs.com/collections/beds/products/bed)! The bed comes without filling so you can fill it with standard-sized pillows or clothing that smells like you--music to doggy's nose!
- Make Your Own Dog Toys
- While it is fun to go on a shopping spree and buy your pooch all the latest toys, why not try making use of your craftier side? Find those old T-shirts you have and turn them into pull toys! Want to see how? Click here (http://stories.barkpost.com/how-to-make-a-t-shirt-dog-toy/).
Happy Earth Day!
